The thirtieth London International Wine Fair and Distil closed last week with both exhibitors and visitors reporting a successful event. The buzz at ExCeL was certainly more evident than in previous years and organisers Brintex are delighted with the results.
Online retailer Naked Wines (http://www.nakedwines.com), which launched in December 2008, has sold £30K worth of wine in 24 hours after rolling out their airline-pricing model at this year's London Wine Fair. The new model, called Advance Bookings, offers unknown wineries a risk-free route to market by allowing them to pre-sell their wines before they've exported them.
In another first for the London International Wine Fair, a group of leading wineries from India will showcase Brand India. The India Pavilion (D40) at LIWF 2010 is the initiative of the newly formed Indian Grape Processing Board. This is the first participation on a collective platform in Europe by wineries from India, the new "New World".
The 2010 London International Wine Fair will for the first time ever incorporate a dedicated bloggers' zone, reflecting the growing trend for social media within the wine trade. Brintex has teamed up with a number of key influencers in social media, including Ryan and Gabriella Opaz of internet marketing site Catavino, plus WineConversation.
'Winning Wine Export Sales - Understanding the UK market and making the most of on-line media' Brintex has announced the addition of a new element to the London International Wine Fair for 2010 - the 30th Anniversary LIWF Conference will take place on Monday 17th May at ExCeL from 12.
Once again LIWF and Distil organiser, Brintex, has teamed up with TastingBuddy to provide the eCatalogue - The List - for the 2010 show. Significant improvements have been made to The List for 2010 in order to increase the choice of promotional opportunities for exhibitors, and broaden the appeal of The List to a wider range of visitors to the LIWF.
LIWF Reveals Impressive Support The thirtieth London International Wine Fair will see significant growth for many international pavilions, as well as increased presence for several UK agents. Organisers, Brintex, are also benefiting from the increased space at ExCeL due to the new extension, by bringing more of the popular LIWF and Distil features onto the show floor.
The thirtieth London International Wine Fair, which takes place from 18th - 20th May 2010 will once again play host to the popular Top 100 wines, selected by The Wine Gang. To highlight the thirtieth anniversary celebrations, this year's Top 100 tasting will feature thirty sparkling wines and seventy regional ambassadors, selected for their expression of variety and terroir.
The countdown is well and truly under way - there are less than six months to go before the start of the 2010 London International Wine Fair, when the event will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Thanks to major on-site improvements and an extension to the South hall, the LIWF and Distil will see a new layout at ExCeL next year.
