The thirtieth London International Wine Fair, which
takes place from 18th - 20th May 2010 will
once again play host to the popular Top 100 wines, selected by The
Wine Gang. To highlight the thirtieth anniversary celebrations,
this year's Top 100 tasting will feature thirty sparkling wines and
seventy regional ambassadors, selected for their expression of
variety and terroir.
The Top 100 is a perennial favourite among visitors to the Fair.
Now in its sixth year, this free-pour tasting located next to the
masterclass theatre at the east end of ExCeL hall, has featured
many topical themes over the years, including rosé, and organic and
biodynamic wines.
This is the second year The Wine Gang have worked with Brintex
to select the Top 100 list, which represents wines at various
price-points, representing both the Old and New World, all selected
on the basis of overall quality, consistency and value for
money. Established in 2008, The Wine Gang comprises five of
the biggest names in wine writing: Tim Atkin MW, Tom Cannavan,
Anthony Rose, Joanna Simon and Olly Smith. Its unique service
provides subscribers with access to a no-holds-barred assessment of
over 200 wines per month for a small fee. The LIWF Top 100
will be selected from wines given a score of 85% or more by The
Wine Gang.
Will Broadfoot, marketing director for the London International
Wine Fair, commented: "We are delighted to have The Wine Gang on
board once again. The Top 100 feature was a great success in 2009,
with very positive feedback on the wines selected by The Wine Gang.
This year will be particularly exciting, as this is the first time
we have held a tasting dedicated entirely to sparkling wines, and
we believe this is a great way to celebrate the Fair's thirtieth
anniversary."
The Top 100 tasting will be located at the east end of the
ExCeL, throughout the 2010 LIWF, which takes place from 18th to
20th May 2010. The tasting will have dedicated times where it will
be open exclusively to press, independent retailers, and
sommeliers.
