Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine
Oregon Wine
Alison Sokol Blosser, Co-President, Sokol Blosser Winery and
Eric McLaughlin, National Sales Director, Willamette Valley
Vineyards, will present wines and wineries that have achieved
Oregon Certified Sustainable Wine (OCSW) certification.
Oregon's winemakers are stewards of the land with a collective
passion for growing fruit and making wine in a sustainable manner.
An impressive 34% percent of Oregon's vineyard acreage is certified
as sustainable, organic or biodynamic. Even among the many Oregon
vineyards that aren't officially certified, sustainability is both
a priority and a lifestyle.
In partnership with certification agencies throughout the state,
the Oregon Wine Board has created a unifying platform and
certification logo to help consumers easily identify and purchase
sustainable wines. The OCSW logo guarantees that the Oregon
wine in that bottle was made using responsible agriculture and
winemaking practices; and that both of those processes were
certified by an independent third party.
Eighteen Oregon wineries have achieved OCSW certification to
date, totaling 1.6 million bottles. Wineries relevant to the UK
market include: A to Z Wineworks, Amity Vineyards, Argyle
Winery, Bethel Heights Vineyard, Cristom Vineyards, Ponzi
Vineyards, Sokol Blosser Winery, WillaKenzie Estate and Willamette
Valley Vineyards.
Come along to taste the wines and hear about the Oregon wine
industry's sustainability efforts from those who are really
practicing it every day in their wineries.
